ah, the Psalms...my study Bible talks about the primary purpose of Biblical poetry is not as much to "teach" us, but to "reach" us. Since most of the poetry in Psalms deals with human emotions experienced by sincere, but sinful people who struggle to follow God (sounds like me!) and understand his place in their lives (sounds like me!).
Yes, I agree, it is such a pleasure to read "poetry" after so many battles and power struggles. There are many wonderful promises here and it reads so easily.
