My favorite verse today was "God said to Solomon, 'Since this your heart's desire and you have not asked for wealth, riches or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king, therefore wisdom and knowledge will be given you. And I will also give you wealth, riches and honor...' " (2 Ch 1:11). It reminds me of the often quoted words of Jesus from the gospel of Matthew "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well." How true, simple and difficult at the same time! If we keep things in perspective and seek Him first He will give us all the rest, everything we need. He should always be first. I was shopping for curtains tonight and got stressed over it because I did not have enough time before the store was clsed. The result was I did not buy anything, just got exhausted from it and wasted my time. When I came home I just wanted to read my Bible (The kids were in bed already, thanks to my husband) and that verse just put everything in perspective right away and the reading gave me peace. I am so glad we hold each other accountable for reading every day. Thanks, Jen.

Ah, Lena, I can't take the credit! I have to thank all you ladies for helping ME with reading through the Bible. If it were for any of you agreeing to do this with me, I most likely would have my Bible sitting on my night stand collecting dust, again! I'm so excited to see all the pages I've already read! Thanks everyone!!!!

I liked how of all things, Solomon asked for wisdom from God - I think that is something I need to ask more for. I think too often I try to ask for solutions to my problems when rather, I too, should ask for wisdom!

I also found it interesting with the description of the temple - mainly the walls covered in gold and just had ordinate everything sounded. Does anyone know why our churches today (SDA ones at least) tend to be simple in comparison to the temple description in the Bible and also other churches - I was thinking like the Catholic church and how decorated they tend to be.
