So we are back in Numbers, and I was thinking of thefirst time obedience, and then remembering what we were talking about at how we just want God to accept us, and not think about our need to be perfect. This is what it made me think: We love our kids. No matter what we love them, however, we still train them and teach them and show them what behavior is not appropriate, and what is. So if we were to take our home and break down everything into its specific points- this is how you put your toys away, this is how you eat at the table, this is how you talk to each other, etc and then added who was supposed to do each part, and then when they were supposed to, you would have a book that ended up looking and sounding a lot like the book of numbers and leviticus. Unfortunately God did not have the luxury of being a stay at home mom with each and every isrealite
sorry, again, but even in today's reading, Numbers 26:10 says that "they served as a warning sign".
I know I possibly missing the point of first time obedience - I haven't finished going through the GKGW material...but I can think of other examples of where God did give warnings. I agree with Erin though that we shouldn't ever follow through with our warnings/obedience expectations with our children, for they would never learn what is expected of them. I think that is why God seems so harsh in these first couple of books of the Bible is because he really wanted his people to understand his expectations.
Anyway, I better move on with my day and start cleaning up the house! I'm really enjoying all the thinking/contemplating! I just which I had an "alter" to go to so I could do this in peace and quite!
