Man, all that moving around! I hate moving and I don't think I would have done very well! I liked how my study Bible commented on why all the stopovers were recorded in the Bible...It says "the list of place names helps us understand the way God provided for his people. It was an incredible thing for a nation of 2 to 3 million (YES MILLION!) people to live 40 years in the desert. Without God's help, they never could have survived (WITH GOD'S HELP, THEY WOULD NEVER SURVIVED!). The Biblical record helped the Israelites' descendants recall how God had led their ancestors from place to place, providing water and pasture for their herds and flocks as well as manna and quail for them. Today this list reminds us of God's care for his people.
