I think Eccl 12:13 sums it all up perfectly - "Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgement (DID YOU CATCH THAT -- EVERY deed!), including hidden thing, whether it is good or evil".
My study Bible put it this way: 1)have a right relationship with God (fear God), 2) maintain that relationship by following the law (keeping his commandments) and 3)anticipate a final and future judgment (God will bring every deed into judgment).
I found it "interesting" in SS that being compared to a horse was a compliment (maybe our husbands are more romantic than we realize!).
