I liked the "challenge" in the devotional book..."Whatever your position, use it to do good for those around you rather than to gain anything for yourself".
I found it interesting in my study Bible in reference to Psalms 97:10 - that God's protection for us is more in terms of protection of our eternal safety. This is why he sometimes allows pain/tragedies in our lives because he is accomplishing something far greater and more permanent than our finite minds can understand...that should be reassuring to us when we are facing those trying times!
i know i'm a couple days behind in leaving this comment, but as i was reading this passsage, there were pieces of it that had a "musical" feel to them. since i'm going to be involved in the music at church next month, it really jumped out at me. i'm thinking i might be able to use these passages to blend from one song to another. sorry--i don't have my Bible in front of me to pinpoint exactly what phrases they were that spoke that way to me :)
