Wow! Today's reading was chock full of encouragement, at least for me. If we seek god eagerly and wholeheartedly, He WILL be found by us. I'm realizing the Old Testament isn't just a bunch of battles between the Israelites, it's evidences of God's faithfulness and supreme power over evil. (Yes, I'm a little slow!)
I struggled a bit with the comment in the devotional book in regards to obedience from my children: "No matter how good the action, no matter how pure the motive, only obedience counts. Only obedience." I think this statement should only be taken in context to obedience to God since we, parents, are sinful beings and I could see a situation that I tell my children something (especially down the road when they are much, much older) and they believed that what I was saying would be in disobedience to God - I guess that's another important reason us parents really need to have a strong relationship with God and that our directions and rules come from God so our children won't have to do differently than what we say...I know I'm not getting this out correctly and for fear of rambling, I'm going to stop typing...
As for the Bible reading, I'm not sure if I am reading the same section as Sarah, but I have to say I struggled through the readings...which goes to show that what one person reads as hard to swallow another person is receiving such great blessings!
I did like the verse "he did evil because he did not set his heart on seeking the Lord" (2 Chron 12:14). How important to ALWAYS be seeking the Lord so we don't do evil! Such an easy thing to type - such a hard thing to live - at least I struggle to always be seeking the Lord.
We have the little Bible friends and other kids Bibles, and I am enjoying reading similar passages in those books, that I read in my Bible. For instance we read tonight the story of Joash in My Bible Friends, and I was telling the kids about how I read that same story in my Bible this morning. Anyway, it was fun to be able to share an experience with them like that.
