I liked how the devotional book made the important point that God is compassionate and will come to His people's aid when He sees them suffering. I think too many people read the Old Testament and walk away with a bad taste of God's character. Like the devotional said, He is clear about expectations and He expects total devotion.

I found it as an interesting reminder in my study Bible that when wicked people prosper, two things should be remembered: 1) God's patience and mercy permit many to enjoy things they do not deserve and 2) God's justice is not completed in this life time. I think this is important when obeying and following God's way that we do not get discouraged that we may be not as "blessed" as those who don't follow God...in the end, we are the one's who will be blessed!

What a horrible existence (Deut 28:65-67) to be in when you choose not to follow and obey God's commands.

I also found it very important to remember as we read our Bible and not understanding everything that we read - Deut 29:4 tells us that "to this day the Lord has not given you a mind that understands or eyes that see or ears that hear". My study Bible goes on to explain that God wants us to understand somethings about him, and he works in ways so we might know. But he offers even greater insight to us when we believe by faith. How important faith truly is to our relationship with God!
