I liked in the devotional book the reminder that "extent to which God might go to test those who clam to believe in Him". As I was reading the story of Abraham and Isaac all I could think of was seeing Mark (or myself) doing that and following God's instructions in sacrificing our own child. I could not image what was going through Abraham's mind. And to show how strong his faith must have been, the Bible doesn't mention him "bargaining" with God like he does later for the people of Sodom.
