Wow today Bible reading is in chapter 7 I just want to skip because it is just being repeated over and over again. I am glad my boys slept in a today to allow me to read all of it.

I just want to tell you this because I am so excited about it. I bought a new Bible just before we started this wonderful journey. It is the NIV Rainbow Study Bible and I love it. I am a very visual person. This Bible has it broken up into 12 different Subject (Exp: God, Satan, Family, Love and History). Each subject is a different color so the whole Bible on each verse is color coded to what the subject is. So when I am reading I take a color section at a time to get though. It helps me out alot. That way I am look at just a small part compared to the how Bible reading for that day or the year. :) There is also other stuff it has and just a neat Bible all around. I just had to share it with you all. And I hope each of you are doing well and really gaining something out of it. I know I am.

I am struggling through the Bible reading lately. I can't keep anything straight, and am having a hard time getting much out of it...Like why does God allow some people to be slaves and others are above it, and why if the people came near the tabernacle would they be put to death, and why were some people "His" people and not others...and why did the priests have to be free from defect? - It makes you think, "But I know God loves everyone for who they are...so it doesn't make sense." I just start wondering these random things when I am reading, and wonder if I'm just not understanding or what??

I haven't read today's Bible reading yet, but I did do the devotional reading and have really been enjoying them. I like the prayer at the end. "I pray that Your Spirit's touch will pierce my heart and reveal any sins that need to be confessed. I confess my great need for Your forgiveness, and I thank You for so freely offering it." This is so great because there are probably many times we don't even realize we are sinning, and need God to point it out to us. I think it is helpful to list out our sins, as she had us do, because it makes us think about them so we can consciously make an effort not to do them. If we just ask him to forgive our sins, but don't specifically state them, then do we really know what we are asking forgiveness for, so we can work on them?

Erin - you should get yourself a study Bible. I just got the "Quest" study Bible and it answers tons of questions, including the ones you listed...

Like the slaves, my Bible says, "God provided guidelines, set up ethical restrictions and gave slaves their dignity. In many ways, the issue would have been viewed like employer-employee issued today." I think why some where salves vs some not, would be like why are some people CEOs and other blue collar workers?

With coming to the tabernacle - it says that God used strict requirements to impress upon his people the seriousness of his holiness. Also, since God is holy, sin cannot survive in his presence. A sinner will die in the light and power of God's holiness except when God made special provisions. God's ultimate provision was Christ, but here he used the tents of the Levites to form a protective barrier around the tabernacle, preventing the Israelites from accidentally wandering into God's holy presence.

The priests had to be free from defect, because God himself is free from defects. The priests needed to be the best representation of God they could be so others could see through them, who God really is.

I don't understand these things too - and that's why I got the study Bible to help and I have to say, it has helped...I do come across some questions that I don't have answers to...

Anyway, keep the questions coming!

Oh, Laura - your Bible sounds really cool!

I still need to finish the Bible reading - things are really crazy around here with the contractors and then with Terminx coming to kill our huge bee hive! I tell you - if it's not one thing, it's another! So glad Sabbath is coming - I totally need a break!

I just want to make sure that I didn't offend anyone...I'm not insinuating that blue collar workers are equivalent to salves...my point really was that we all can't be CEOs, or teachers, or trash collectors, or whatever - God made us all different with our different personal interests and capabilities and that is why I think some people were salves in Bible time and other were not...hope I didn't offend anyone...
